Robotic Prostate Surgery SMART Technique
Prostate cancer expert, Dr. David Samadi, demonstrates his own SMART technique for robotic surgery. The Samadi Modified Advanced Robotic Technique (SMART) in an innovative approach to removal of the cancerous prostate.
During surgery, Dr. Samadi does not open the side of the prostate and he does not suture the dorsal vein complex. As a result, the risk of damage to the nerves, tissue, and sphincter is greatly reduced. There is no incision during robotic prostatectomy, only six very small instrument holes. Pain and bleeding are significantly minimized. Dr. Samadi’s patients experience 97% continence rates and 85% sexual function rates shortly after surgery; rates improve with time.
