Dr. David Samadi Launches Hebrew Version of Robotic Prostate Surgery Site, Smart-Surgery.Com

Robotic prostatectomy expert, Dr. David B. Samadi, Vice Chairman, Department of Urology, and Chief of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, announced the launch of the Hebrew version of his SMART Surgery website, https://www.smart-surgery.com/. As a board-certified urologist and oncologist, Samadi recently brought his prostate cancer treatment and robotic surgery expertise to Israel in a ground-breaking trip to demonstrate his signature SMART Surgery Technique (Samadi Modified Advanced Robotic Technique).

The concept behind Dr. Samadi’s SMART Technique combines traditional open anatomic surgical technique with the robotic surgery platform. The Hebrew site will provide patient education videos and comprehensive detail to visitors on prostate cancer, surgical prostate cancer treatments, robotic prostatectomy, as well as treatments for bladder and kidney cancers.

Patients travel from all over the world to have their surgery done with Dr. Samadi. One of the many global initiatives that Dr. Samadi embarked on was his trip to Israel in December 2010 where he taught his signature SMART Technique at Rambam Medical Center in Israel, as part of a groundbreaking week-long educational trip. He also performed a live surgery at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, in Tel Aviv.

“I felt there was a need to bring my expertise to Israel, which I consider to be like my home, because while Israel’s technology in urology is definitely top notch, there are only a couple of robots in the country, and the doctors employing it there are only in the beginning stages of the learning curve,” said Samadi.

“I translated my SMART surgery website into Hebrew to reach a more international audience and provide them with an educational site that explains the facts of prostate cancer and treatment methods like robotic prostatectomy, laparoscopic radical prostatectomy and laparoscopic robotic radical prostatectomy,” said Dr.Samadi. He refers to his SMART Surgery as the “Treatment Trifecta,” as it boasts a 97% cure rate with continence rates of 96% and potency rates of 85% within 1 year. Samadi has performed over 3,300 robotic-assisted prostatectomies in his practice, about half using the SMART Technique. “I want my patients to know that while a prostate cancer diagnosis is scary, it does not have to be a death sentence,” said Samadi.
